Executive Branches of the U.S Government

The following executive branches of the U.S Government all have offices engaged in international activity. Citizens can be involved as experts in a particular profession and are called upon to serve in various projects abroad, usually as an outsourced contractor or as part of a funded grant project submitted on a competitive basis.

U.S. Department of State
The U.S. Department of State is the primary department responsible for all activities relating to the United States and foreign affairs. Several offices and specific programs are directly responsible for involving citizens as professionals and volunteers. In particular, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) has direct responsibility for educational and cultural exchanges. ECA is the bureau most involved with citizen diplomacy and should always be reviewed for upcoming programs and opportunities for citizens to be involved. Programs are available for youth, adults, universities and students of all ages primarily on a competitive grant or fellowship basis.
