Texas A&M University
The International Studies degree at Texas A&M University offers interdisciplinary curriculum aimed to capture the scope of social, political, cultural and economic “forces at play in an increasingly interdependent world.”

International experiences are a cornerstone to the degree and connect course work that is linked by language, topic, and region. Information indicates graduates will have a host of skills, including language proficiency, analytical skills, cultural sensitivity and substantive knowledge.
Students’ programming begins with Introduction to International Studies and continues with four semesters of foreign language. Requirements lead to an approved international experience and culminate with a Senior Seminar centering on the student thesis.

Oregon State University
At Oregon State University the International degree provides students the opportunity to become an “expert in an international context of your subject”. Programming includes intercultural experience, research and writing, and a focus on language skills. International Degree students complete 32 credits (beyond requirements for primary degree), including a senior thesis exploring the global dimension of the field of study. The University states that students graduating from this program develop an array of skills including cultural and intellectual curiosity, tolerance for ambiguity, adaptability, independence, assertiveness, and empathy.

Portland State University
This International Studies program offers students a B.A., a minor, or a certification using an interdisciplinary curriculum aimed at “both a global and comprehensive view of a specific region of the world”. Studies connect language, history, culture and social sciences and offer regional focus of Africa, East Asia, Europe, Latin American and the Middle East.

University of Iowa
The University of Iowa International Programs include study abroad opportunities as well as degree programs. A Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in International Studies is offered for undergraduates. A Masters of Arts degree is also offered by the Graduate College in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in International Studies. The International Program also sponsors an African Studies Program, Center for Asian and Pacific Studies, a Middle East and Muslim World Studies program, a Global Health Studies Program, K-12 and Community programs, and many more.
